Friday the 13th: Happy Death Day

The past few days have been very busy so we have not got around to watching Calvarie (2004), The Void (2016), or Rocky Horror Picture Show (1975).

We did, however, have a wonderful time going out as a celebration of Friday the 13th and we went to see a pretty mediocre movie called Happy Death Day (2017) which is essentially a plagiarization of Groundhog Day (1993).  The film itself basically admits as much.

This movie was definitely in the teen scream sub-genre with its PG-13 rating and there were definitely plenty of teens in the theater we saw it in.  I was, of course, a curmudgeonly old man throughout like I have been since I was 10.  Yet, the "oohs" and "ahhs" of the mostly-young crowd did add to the experience.  It was somewhat like a straw-poll of what kind of reactions a cross-section of the public was having to the film.

The writing was bad in this film, but it was still fun for a date movie.

A fun night at a silly movie.

This was definitely not a feminist film and I would say more on this but I am tired.

And you should also watch Friday the 13th
